2015 Festival Review

The 2015 STREATHAM FOOD FESTIVAL took place from Wednesday 3rd – Sunday 7th June. Our packed programme included the return of the Streatham Food Tour, our popular Sunday Food Fair, pop-ups, fundraisers, food growing sessions and more.

WEDNESDAY 3RD JUNE

SCHOOLS RECIPE COMPETITION & HARVESTING SESSION
Winning recipes were served for lunch while pupils at Hitherfield Primary led a growing session in their Edible Playground with the Chair of the London Food Board, Rosie Boycott.

BRIXTON PEOPLE’S KITCHEN FESTIVAL POP-UP
Apprentices from Jamie’s Fifteen cooked up a storm with a menu of surplus & reclaimed food.

POP-UP SCREENING: 2015 REAL FOOD MEDIA CONTEST FINALISTS
A free evening of short films on sustainable food and farming.

THURSDAY 4TH JUNE

STREATHAM FOOD TOUR
The 2015 tour kicked off with taster menus available in 31 local eateries.

STREATHAM DROP-IN CENTRE WORLD CUISINE FUNDRAISER
An evening of delicious Ethiopian, Eritrean and world cuisine in support of local refugees & asylum seekers.

BRÜNCH SUMMER FEAST
A German-inspired summer feast in the heart of Streatham.

FRIDAY 5TH JUNE

STREATHAM FOOD TOUR
The tour continued.

CAFE BARCELONA’S FIRST ANNIVERSARY PARTY
Café Barcelona celebrated their first year with paella, live Latin music and sangria.

SATURDAY 6TH JUNE

STREATHAM MARKET
Streatham’s weekly farmers’ market joined the festival with family-friendly entertainment and hot food stalls.

STREATHAM FOOD TOUR
Our Food Tourists squeezed plenty of taster plates into the final day of the tour.

BRITISH HOME SUMMER FAYRE
Local charity the British Home opened its gardens for their annual Summer Fayre.


THE WHITE LION KITCHEN’S BBQ COURTYARD PARTY

An all-day party with White Lion DJs and their world-famous jerk chicken.

SKABEQUE AT PRATTS & PAYNE
A day of Ska music and BBQ-ing in Pratts & Payne’s patio garden.

GROWING HILLSIDE
Edible Hillside ran a food growing session at Hillside Gardens Park.

SUNDAY 7TH JUNE

SUNDAY FOOD FAIR
Streatham Green came alive once again with a mix of street food, local producers, live music, face painting and cooking demos.

ELEPHANT BAKEHOUSE BRING & BAKE SESSION
Sourdough tips and bread baking at Elephant Bakehouse.

THE BIG LUNCH AND FAMILY FRIENDLY GARDENING SESSION
Visitors were invited to pick their own salad and enjoy a Big Lunch with friends and strangers at Streatham Common Community Garden.

NAMASTE NEPAL FUNDRAISER
An evening of music and food in aid of rebuilding Nepal.

EDIBLE HILLSIDE FILM NIGHT
A screening of Project Wild Thing marked the end of the festival.
