The Streatham Food Tour proved to be a big hit again in 2015, with keen foodies taking advantage of the opportunity to try taster plates in 31 local eateries, and participating businesses reporting a surge in new customers – Streatham High Road was buzzing!
Our Food Tourists were once again invited to score eateries out of five for food, service and atmosphere, with restaurants battling it out to be crowned this year’s winner. We’ve now tallied the scores and we’re delighted to announce the results, as follows:
In first place, with an average score of 4.62 out of 5 is Streatham newcomer Hood – huge congratulations to Melanie, Robin, Mike and the team! They impressed festival-goers with their beautiful taster plates of chilled tomato soup with stonebass ceviche, summer lamb salad, and English strawberry snap, crackle & pop.
In second place, with a score of 4.49 out of 5 is Bravi Ragazzi with their menu of traditional Neapolitan pizzas and cheesecake. Well done to Luca, Corrado, Andrea and everyone at the restaurant!
Third place goes to the Earl Ferrers, coming in just behind Bravi with a score of 4.48 out of 5. Their menu of salmon tempura and gin fizz, veal & pancetta meatballs, and strawberry cappuccino was a big hit – congratulations to Duncan and the team.
Well done to all of the participating eateries; this year’s Food Tourists were clearly impressed by the quality on offer across Streatham, given all of the high scores and positive feedback.
Food Tourist Challenge winner
Sarah Haden was the winner of this year’s scorecard prize draw and selected Hood for her prize meal for two. Sarah managed to visit an impressive 13 eateries as part of the tour and scored Hood 5 out of 5 for food, service and atmosphere. She said:
“I loved taking part in the Streatham Food Tour again this year. It’s a great way to try new restaurants and bars, and to discover Streatham a bit more. I hope even more restaurants sign up next year to be part of this great event. The Sunday Food Fair was lovely too, a perfect way for the community to get together. Now looking forward to my prize dinner!”
