The Streatham Food Festival is brought to you every year by inStreatham, Streatham’s Business Improvement District.
InStreatham is a not-for-profit organisation created by local businesses to help improve our area. It was established in April 2013 following a ballot of local businesses, and was recently voted back in for its second term with 83 per cent of businesses voting in favour of the BID.
The aims of the inStreatham BID are improving the look and feel of the high road for residents, visitors and businesses, boosting Streatham’s footfall, introducing enhanced security and crime prevention in our town centre, and promoting and supporting the night-time economy.
Projects to date include introducing a dedicated police officer service for Streatham, offering free recycling to businesses, reopening the public toilets, deep cleaning the high road, installing banners and hanging baskets, supporting the highly successful Food Festival and Streatham Festival, and renovating shop fronts and premises.
Oli Osibo, InStreatham BID Chair commented, “A huge part of our remit at inStreatham is to promote Streatham and its businesses. The Streatham Food Festival is a fantastic event that gives us the chance to do just that. From the school recipe competition that engages local children in the festival, to the Food Tour and Sunday Food Fair that we know attract both local residents and new visitors to the area, what better way to shout about the amazing culinary choices right here on our doorstep. The brilliant partner events that make it such a varied and exciting programme further highlight the best of Streatham and we hope that you will join us to celebrate five days of foodie fun!”
One of the main objectives of the BID over the next five years is to capture demographic data; to analyse who goes where to shop and why and the Food Festival has been helpful in the past for determining this.
