2013 Festival Welcome

Welcome to the fourth annual Streatham Food Festival! We’re very proud to introduce this year’s programme which includes a feast of delights to suit every palate and pocket.

Across the weekend, we’re celebrating the fantastic variety of restaurants, pubs and cafés in the area by inviting you to take a food tour of the world right here in Streatham, with taster menus available in over 20 local eateries. This is the perfect opportunity to try something new – or to revisit old favourite – and who knows, you may discover a hidden gem along the way.

The festival is also your chance to taste the delicious offerings of our local bakers, cake-makers, growers and juicers. Many local businesses (and a few from further afield) will be selling their fabulous food and drink at our two daytime events on Saturday and Sunday. Families won’t want to miss the Good Food Day on Saturday 17th, and there’s something for food lovers of all ages and persuasions at our Sunday Food Fair on Streatham Green, with a wide selection of sweet treats, spicy bites and savoury delights on offer!

We want our food to be good for the planet, our waistlines and the local economy, and we know this is something that can bring great joy to people along the way. So get your hands dirty at our food-growing sessions, indulge in our waste-food feast, treat yourself to our sustainable supperclub, and be inspired at our Good Food Day workshops.

And it’s not just about what you can eat, with musical entertainment, craft activities, face-painting and more. Look out for Starving Arts Events who’ll be inviting you to Pick A Herbal Love Song and Voice Your Vatapa Vibration, plus other unique performances throughout the weekend.

To help the growing number of local people who don’t have enough food this Summer, we’re supporting the Norwood & Brixton Foodbank with an ongoing collection at Morrisons. So pick up an extra item when you’re next out shopping and drop it off at the collection point in store. We’re also raising funds for Evelina Children’s Hospital as part of the Lambeth Weekender’s year-long campaign to raise £100k, all donations welcome via the collection tins around Streatham.

Finally, huge thanks to our funders, sponsors and partners, and of course our fantastic team of staff and volunteers, without whom none of this would be possible.
